Icelandic sheepdogs are truly unique and amazing dogs. They are smart, and loving, a perfect medium size. They love to learn and excel at dog sports. They tend to get along well with people, dogs, and other animals. They are loving family dogs and will be your constant shadow.

They are also an active herding breed, with many herding dog traits that can be difficult for some people to manage. Common complaints in breed-specific groups include barking, separation frustration, and leash reactivity. If you are looking for a dog to hold down the couch this is not the breed for you. If you are looking for an active companion who is down for weekend hikes, swimming, games of fetch, virtually any activity they can be included in then they might be the breed for you!
